May 31 - August 30: The Cretan Wine Festival

In the cool Municipal Garden, the "Travelling Club" of Rethymno organises the Cretan Wine Festival every summer. A rich programme including traditional Cretan and Greek folklore music groups is offered. A large number of local and foreign visitors can enjoy Greek music every evening. Wine is free. The visitor will find wine choices from the largest wine producing companies of Crete and will be given the opportunity to try almost all the flavours and varieties of the famous Cretan wines.

July 13-22 : Casa dei Mezzo Music Festival

The Casa Dei Mezzo Festival at Makrigialos, Ierapetra is the only summer classical music festival in Crete, with renowned international artists taking part.

July 15 - 30: Dance Days Festival

Sardine festival is being organized at the beach of Nea Chora by the municipality of Chania as well as various social and cultural institutions of Nea Chora, offering free sardines, wine, dance and music.

October : Tsikoudia festival

Dance and music events as well as revival of the traditional way of tsikoudia distillation at the Venetian Port of Chania.
